Why Helping Others Feels Better Than Landing Any Trick

Why Helping Others Feels Better Than Landing Any Trick

As a team of BMX riders, we’ve learned that the thrill of landing a big trick is nothing compared to the joy of helping someone else succeed. When we mentor younger riders or cheer on our friends, we feel a deeper satisfaction that lasts longer than any applause. Giving our time and energy to support others reminds us why we fell in love with this sport in the first place.

During school assemblies, we see students light up when we share stories of kindness and teamwork. We invite volunteers to participate in simple activities and celebrate their efforts just as much as we celebrate our own stunts. The excitement on their faces reinforces the idea that lifting others up creates a sense of belonging and pride that no single achievement can match.

We’ve discovered that helping others not only strengthens our relationships but also improves our own skills. Teaching a trick forces us to break down each component, which deepens our understanding and sharpens our technique. By investing in others’ progress, we grow alongside them.

The act of helping has ripple effects beyond the bike. We support our community through charity events, fundraisers, and mentorship programs, showing that our platform can be used for good. These experiences bring us closer together and demonstrate that compassion is an integral part of being an athlete.

At the end of the day, we’d rather be known for how we made people feel than for the tricks we landed. Helping others feels better because it creates connections, builds confidence, and spreads positivity. We encourage students to look for opportunities to help their classmates, knowing that those moments will stick with them far longer than any fleeting victory.
