As a team of BMX athletes, we know that everyone goes through challenging periods, whether it’s recovering from an injury or facing personal struggles. Supporting friends in tough times makes us stronger as a group and helps us remember that we ride not just for ourselves but for each other. When we lift each other up, we all find the strength to push forward.
On tour, we see firsthand how a kind word or a listening ear can brighten someone’s day. We check in on each other before and after shows, making sure that no one is carrying a heavy burden alone. Taking the time to ask how our teammates are doing reinforces that we’re a family and that everyone’s well‑being matters.
We’ve also learned to celebrate small victories together, like when a teammate lands a new trick after a long struggle. Sharing these moments of progress reminds us that progress doesn’t happen in a vacuum; it’s fueled by consistent encouragement and shared passion. By cheering for one another, we create an environment where everyone feels valued and motivated.
When one of us is facing a setback, whether personal or on the bike, we rally around them with positivity and patience. We remind them that setbacks are part of the journey and that perseverance will eventually lead to growth. Through mutual support, we teach students that true friends stand by each other through both highs and lows.
Supporting friends through tough times isn’t always easy, but it’s an essential part of our ethos as athletes and as people. We encourage students to cultivate friendships built on trust, empathy, and encouragement because those relationships will carry them further than any trophy. Together we can overcome obstacles that would be impossible to face alone.
