How Being Kind Makes You Stronger, Not Softer

How Being Kind Makes You Stronger, Not Softer

As a team of BMX athletes, we’ve discovered that kindness is a powerful force that builds real strength. Offering a supportive word or a helping hand to a teammate makes our group stronger because it creates trust and mutual respect. We’ve learned that compassion doesn’t soften us—it unites us and strengthens our resolve.

When we show kindness to one another, we foster resilience and determination. Being patient with a rider who’s learning a new trick or encouraging someone after a fall helps everyone grow. These small acts of kindness cultivate an environment where we all feel safe to push our limits and come back stronger.

On the road performing assemblies, we make a point to demonstrate kindness to students, teachers, and staff. We hold doors, we share smiles, and we take time to listen to the kids we meet. These gestures show that kindness can coexist with athleticism and that caring for others is a sign of true strength.

We also practice kindness toward our competitors and fans because good sportsmanship is part of being strong. Showing respect to other riders, thanking event organizers, and appreciating the crowd’s energy reflect our values. By treating others with dignity, we reinforce the idea that kindness elevates everyone involved.

Ultimately, we believe kindness and strength go hand in hand. By caring for those around us, we become better teammates and role models. We encourage students to choose kindness every day and see how it will make them stronger in ways they never imagined.
